Our team boasts a combined experience of more than 70 years. We are passionate and well-travelled and, in most cases, at least one of us has personally experienced the destination you client is interested in visiting.

We pride ourselves on a high level of personal service and professionalism and can help you choose the most memorable experiences for your clients, from thrilling game drives, decadent gourmet safaris, wine tastings on century-old wine farms, private dinners in the African bush to hot-air ballooning over dramatic landscapes – the possibilities in Africa are endless!

  • Murray Gardiner

    Murray’s passion for the travel industry started when his family purchased a desolate piece of farm land in the Eastern Cape and transformed it into an award-winning private game reserve – Shamwari Game Reserve.  After working for an internet company in London, he moved into the publishing world and helped launch the first edition of Giltedge Magazine in 1998. 

    In 1999, Murray returned to South Africa and focused the magazine on Southern and East Africa and the Island Ocean islands. He then joined Sean Kritzinger in 2001 as a founding partner of Giltedge Travel, and together they have developed a business that covers all aspects of the tourism industry. Murray is based between our Cape Town and Austin, TX office and responsible for international marketing in both the USA and Canada.

  • Sean Kritzinger

    Sean’s passion for the travel industry was ignited in 1990  when, after completing a four-year Business Science honours degree in Cape Town, he worked and travelled in the UK and Europe. On returning to South Africa, Sean spent two years in the business development arena for Felix Unite, the pioneer of adventure travel and river adventures.

    In ’95, after a few years in the corporate market, he embarked on a three-month kayaking and mountain biking adventure with a few friends through Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. In ’98, he rejoined Felix Unite Tours as a shareholder and MD of their inbound adventure tour operator, and grew this business before selling it to a listed group on the JSE in 2000.

    Sean founded Giltedge Travel in 2001 together with Murray Gardiner, and they now have a staff of 100 energetic travel specialists. With interests in the travel industry spanning the MICE industry, Inbound tour operating , a specialist Golf division, an outbound Corporate travel and Incentives business and  a few luxury river boats. Travel is certainly in his blood and provides him with massive job satisfaction.

  • Sandra Devoti
    General Manager

    Sandra joined Giltedge Travel in 2003 and is currently the General Manager of our Inbound Division.  She started her career as a Junior Tour Consultant at a Johannesburg-based company where she grew into the role of Senior Consultant and Incentive Manager.  After 12 years, she relocated to Cape Town where she joined Giltedge Travel…and has never looked back!  Sandra works very closely with her great team to ensure that the company continues to evolve, set new standards within the industry and to strive for service excellence.

  • Jenny Diamond
    International Marketing Manager

    Jenny has been with Giltedge for 12 years and has successfully taken our brand to travel agents across the length and breadth of the USA and more recently also to Australia.

    Her passion for South Africa does no go unnoticed especially when she has the captive audience of agents on FAM trips. These 14-day trips are not for the faint-hearted, but by the time they're back at their desks the participants have a wealth of knowledge and personal experiences enabling them to confidently offer vacations-of-a-lifetime to their valued clients.

    Every two years Murray and Jenny combine their talents to publish the elegant Giltedge magazine featuring some of our preferred suppliers – can’t fit them all in unfortunately. At every possible opportunity the magazines are personally taken and sent around the world to bring attention to our exotic continent, its people and the experiences to be enjoyed by guests of all ages during their travels.

  • Stephanie Meconi
    Key Accounts Manager

    Stephanie started with Giltedge Travel in 2003, and has created a strong client base over the years. In her years with Giltedge Travel she has worked extensively with well-travelled clientele, and has never failed to deliver an unforgettable holiday to even the most experienced traveller. Stephanie is now based in France, and works with many of our long-standing agents abroad as Nordic Team Leader.  In addition, she has developed a special area of expertise in family travel and honeymooners.

  • Charlotte Smith
    Manager: Conference, Incentives and Events

    Charlotte is passionate about South Africa, its natural beauty and the extraordinary experiences it offers to visitors – local and international alike. She has been able to indulge this passion since the 1980s when she started working as a retail travel consultant and travelled the world. After many years she found her niche in FIT inbound travel to Southern and East Africa, and now heads up Giltedge’s DMC division.

    Charlotte has worked with groups such as Old Mutual, Danone, BHP Billiton, Citroen, Amicorp, BMW and Toyota, among many others. Every event that she helps organise reminds her of how much South Africa has to offer: its abundance of natural attractions, wildlife, friendly people and extraordinary cultures. She gets immense job satisfaction knowing that guests will always return home with memories they will never forget.

  • Robyn Stalson
    Manager – USA Office

    Robyn joined Giltedge in March 2014 after being a very satisfied client! She previously owned and operated her own tour company, Spirit of Africa Adventures, for 8 years. She specialized in customized groups and FIT trips with a combined focus on safaris, sightseeing, culture and volun-tourism opportunities – where in addition to having a great time,  travellers can serve and give back to local communities and make a difference in the world. She also brings with her extensive experience in Corporate Travel and Incentives.

    Robyn is well travelled, has a passion for Africa, and prides herself on providing life-changing journeys that feed the soul.

  • Erika Costa
    Inbound Product Manager

    As a keen traveller and adventurer, Erika has spent her whole life globetrotting and exploring the world. Working in Tourism just came naturally as a passion. Having worked in numerous Tour Operators with clients from many different nationalities, her expertise lies in tailor making Luxury FIT trips for clients and advising them all the way.

    She lives for holidays and travel, to explore new destinations and has a special place in her heart for Africa.  Erika speaks numerous different languages which she has a keen interest in, as well as discovering new cultures and cuisines.
    She has a wealth of knowledge and loves making peoples holiday dreams come true!

  • Robyn Leatherby
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Robyn comes from a travel agency background, so her experience has assisted us greatly in the Inbound Department. She joined Giltedge Travel four years ago and is now one of our Senior Travel Consultants specializing in tour groups, tour series, MBA programmes, family travel and top-end individual travellers. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Robyn and she’ll go out of her way to assist her clients in any way possible.

  • Monique Dean
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Monique has been at Giltedge since 2004, and loves being part of a team that has grown from strength to strength. Before joining us she worked in the airline industry; with Italian, Turkish and German inbound incentive groups; and in hotels and hospitality. With her vast experience in all sectors of the tourism industry, Monique has found her niche in inbound individual travel and thoroughly enjoys putting that extra special luxury trip together for an unforgettable holiday! Find out more >

  • Rhynhardt Naurattel
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Rhynhardt joined Giltedge Travel when we merged with his previous company, Titch Tours, and is now our US Team Leader. He has worked in the Inbound tourism industry for 20 years and therefore has extensive knowledge. Rhynhardt is very well travelled and takes great pride in delivering excellent service to his clients. Over the years he has specialized in the operation of tour groups, adventure travel and golf tours. His attention to detail ensures that he also has a base of loyal agents working with individual travellers.

  • Faye Steenkamp
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Faye is one of our Senior Consultants and over the past 18 years has develeoped a passion for travel and has gained a wealth of product knowledge. Her experience ranges from Group Travel, to Family Travel and compiling tailor-made itineraries for clients to meet their specific needs.  Her goal – to ensure that her clients have an unforgettable holiday and that they return home with a yearning to return to Southern Africa to explore the region even further!

  • Robyn-Lea Meyer
    Inbound Systems and Training Manager

    After finishing school Robyn-Lea, completed her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology Biodiversity and Evolutionary Ecology and went on to finish her postgraduate diploma in tourism.

    After completing her studies she spent a year overseas in the UK, before returning to South Africa and joining the tourism industry, initially specialising in golf tours. She then moved to the Inbound FIT market where she found her niche and has worked for the past four years.

    She enjoys ensuring that every clients expectation are exceeded, and that they leave Southern Africa longing to return to this beautiful continent!

  • Suzaan Nel
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Suzaan landed in Travel & Tourism by chance in 2006, and years later is still thrilled to be part of this exciting industry. Africa is a land of contrasts with a rich mix of cultures, incredible scenery and wildlife-filled reserves. Creating dream holidays to this spectacular continent is a real passion for her.

    She started at Giltedge Travel three years ago, and considers herself very fortunate to be part of a company that is committed to providing clients the very best experience. Suzaan has travelled through most of Southern and East Africa, and has seen and experienced so many amazing things that it's impossible to choose a favourite.

    Senior Travel Consultant

    Nikki fell into the Tourism Industry by chance some 9 years ago. After having returned home from a couple of years spent living abroad in Ireland, being the outdoor enthusiast she is, Nikki worked as a surf instructor. But it wasn’t long before she was convinced to go for an interview within the Travel Industry and has never looked back. Find out more >

    At the age of 20, Tanya and her (now) husband decided to travel through southern Africa without a plan or schedule. They released themselves from all commitments and hit the road for what would be an amazing experience.   • Amina Brandt
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Amina has been with Giltedge for six years, starting out as our receptionist and worked her way up into the position of our Administrative Consultant and now moving into full time Sales Consultant. She deals with agent enquiries making sure that all bookings correspond with clients’ requests and needs a well as tailor made itineraries according the clients budget. Amina comes from a customer service background which is of key importance in the travel industry.

  • Stella Spalding
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Stella is based in Denver, Colorado. She has travelled extensively in Africa, and feels there’s nothing better than being on safari: setting out on game drives, exploring the African bush and toasting the sunsets with a G&T. A handful of her travel highlights include witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration in Tanzania, mokoro safaris in the Okavango Delta, spending the day with the Himba tribe in Namibia and enjoying wine in the vineyards of South Africa. Outside of travelling, Stella is passionate about food and wine, finding the best camping spots Colorado has to offer, and spending time with her friends and family. Find out more >

    Senior Travel Consultant

    With a degree in tourism and 12 years in the industry, Chemoné has a passion for travel and learning about different cultures. She has travelled to destinations in Africa, Asia and Australia; and taking a gap year in Thailand made her passion for tourism and cultures grow stronger. Over the years she has dealt with inbound FIT’s and group travel. Working with both individuals and groups, has given her a wider view on the needs and desires of people, and she strives to make her clients’ travels enjoyable and memorable.

  • Elizabeth Rampfshaw
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Originally from the UK, Liz first came to South Africa on her gap year working with the University of KwaZulu Natal researching frog species. After finishing university Liz moved to Cape Town which is where her career in tourism began. Liz’s experience started in a guesthouse and then moved into tour operations where she worked as a Sales Consultant, Product Manager and Project Manager.

    11 years later Liz is now back into her passion of selling Africa here at Giltedge as a Senior Sales Consultant. She spends her free time exploring the local Cape Town wine farms and tourist attractions and is always keen to discover the hidden gems of Africa during her travels. Liz is passionate about responsible tourism and has set up a number of sustainable non-profit projects in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

  • Sandi Bird
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Sandi has worked in the hospitality and inbound travel industry for over 10 years. Before joining Giltedge Travel in 2008, she worked in some of the world’s top hotels in London, the USA and South Africa. Sandi has an incredible passion for people and for making their dream holidays come true. She focuses on inbound individual travel, and enjoys putting together unforgettable honeymoon itineraries.

  • Lauren Maker
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Lauren is addicted to Africa and travel. Passionate about her country South Africa, its people and of course the incredible wildlife from the chacma baboons at Cape Point to the fierce honey badger found in Southern Africa.

    Lauren has travelled Southern Africa on holidays, many road trips and has lived in three of South Africa's Provinces. Having worked in the hospitality and travel industry for almost two decades, Lauren prides herself in service, guest satisfaction and seeing her clients appreciate our beautiful country.

  • Lisa Griggs
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Lisa has a background in the South African wine industry, and has worked on various estates including Nederburg and Klein Constantia. Between 2001 and 2006 she ran her own wine export business, firstly based in the Cape Town Tourism office and later in her own little wine shop in Kalk Bay.

    She lectured for 10 years for the Cape Wine Academy, and ran her own course called “The Little Wine Course”. A registered Tourist Guide, Lisa was affiliated with The Last Word group as their in-house specialist wine guide between 2007 and 2012. She spent the last two years working as Operations Team Leader for a UK-based group tour operator, before joining the Giltedge Inbound team.

  • Simone Solomons
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Simone studied financial accounting at university, then in 2005 joined Wilderness Safaris working in reception and assisting their accounts department. Three months later she moved across to their reservations team, and has never looked back!

    Her travels include safaris in the Kruger Park and KwaZulu-Natal, the KZN Battlefields and Drakensberg Mountains. She’s also been to most of the Wilderness Safaris lodges in Botswana; Zambia and Namibia. Her favourite destination is Namibia, especially Damaraland Camp as there is just something magical about the people working there: their love for their country makes you want to visit again and again.

  • Desiree Fredericks
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Desiree has been in the tourism industry since 1998. She’s travelled throughout South Africa, as well as visiting Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the Okavango Delta in Botswana, and – most recently - south Mozambique.

    Having worked with clients from different nationalities her expertise lies in tailor-making FIT trips, and assisting throughout the planning process as well as on their travels. Discovering new routes keeps life interesting and doing it together with her close-knit family is a bonus. In her free time, Des coaches Bootcamp to groups of friends and acquaintances, and appreciate that hard works pays off!

  • Samantha Holdsworth
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Samantha (Sam, Sammy Joe) joined the inbound team late Jan 2017. She has 15 years’ experience in the travel industry in various consulting roles, including eight wonderful years working for Wilderness Safaris in Johannesburg. Before joining Giltedge, Sam moved to Pemba in Mozambique where she set up and ran her own successful logistics company. Having settled back in Cape Town, she’s very excited to get back into the industry that she loves and is so passionate about. 

    Her favourite places on earth are Sossusvlei and Skeleton Coast in Namibia: “this is God’s Country for me, truly breathtakingly beautiful. In the words of Ziggy Marley ‘People get freedom in Namibia’”.

  • Noxolo Ntshenge
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Noxie is originally from Uitenhage, a small town near Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. She studied Travel and Tourism at MSC Business College, and after graduation moved to Cape Town in search of more exciting opportunities. She gained four years inbound consulting experience at Triumph Travel, where she dealt with groups and FIT’s from South American. Noxie has travelled to the Kruger Park, Garden Route and Zambia; she is passionate about the travel industry and making her clients dream holidays a reality.

  • Vernon Wilson
    Senior Travel Consultant

    Vernon’s love for the travel industry started in 2006 when, after completing a diploma in tour guiding, he went on to work as a nature and environmental guide for SANParks. He has worked for British Airways at Cape Town International Airport, as a reservations consultant for an overland tour operator, and as a travel agent at Flight Centre. At the end of five successful years at Flight Centre he took a leap of faith and worked from home as an Independent Travel Consultant (ITC). After two years as an ITC, he decided to go back to a more structured working environment and found a suitable fit in Giltedge Africa.

    He has many interests but the ones he is really passionate about are football, cooking and hiking He loves the outdoors, and his idea of a fun night would be sitting around a fire at a campsite in the middle of nowhere hearing nothing but the sound of nature.

  • Amirah Watson
    Administrative Consultant

    Amirah Watson has recently joined the Giltedge Travel team. She is an administrative consultant, her main focus is groups, final itineraries, reconfirmations and  packaging. She has 12 years' experience in the travel industry.

  • Nadine Stevens
    Administrative Consultant

    Nadine graduated with a National Diploma in Tourism Management in 2009. She has been working in the tourism industry for the past seven years, and Joined Giltedge Travel in 2014 as an administrative consultant. Nadine loves life and all the positive things it has to offer. She is passionate about the travel industry, and loves being outdoors exploring nature. Nadine travelled to Bali in April this year, and can’t wait to plan her next trip - whether locally or internationally.

  • Noxolo Gxaba
    Administrative Consultant

    Noxolo was born in the Eastern Cape, but grew up in Cape Town. She studied a three-year Tourism Management degree, graduating in April 2016. Her love for tourism grew during her tertiary education, as she met many people from diverse cultures. Nox started working at Giltedge Travel this year, and says that so far it’s been a great learning experience. She’s passionate about South Africa and the uniqueness that we have to offer the world.

  • Washington Makuzva
    Administrative Consultant

    Washington was born in Zimbabwe, where he grew up and went to school. In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious presidential scholarship to study Tourism Management at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. This sparked his passion for tourism which grew during his studies, along with a desire to explore all the beautiful destinations in the world. Washington’s travels in Zimbabwe include Victoria Falls, Hwange and Masvingo; while in South Africa a highlight has been South Africa’s Garden Route. During his time at Giltedge Washington has worked for both Golf & Safari and our Inbound department, and is also currently enrolled in his Master’s degree in Tourism Management.

  • Amber Smith
    Administrative Consultant

    Amber has been in the travel industry for three years now, and loves every moment of it. She’s met so many amazing people, and just hearing their travel stories inspires her! Recently Amber explored South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route: Knysna, Oudtshoorn, George – even attempting the Cango Caves. Since joining the travel industry she’s become something of a foodie, but her main passion is travel: she loves Africa, and hopes to see and experience much more of this incredible continent.

  • Marian Njera
    Administrative Consultant

    Marian’s passion for travel started when she studied Geography at high school, which paved the way for her tertiary studies and career in Tourism Management. Her hard work and desire to learn more about the travel industry opened doors to work part-time as a booking consultant while still studying. This opportunity gave her invaluable experience in customer service, which she believes is the key to excelling in the travel industry. Marian prides herself in excellent attention to detail, and in doing all it takes to exceed customer expectations. She is excited to be part of the growing Giltedge Inbound Division, and strongly believes that working closely with her team’s experienced consultants will help her grow to walk the same path.

  • Linda Tekere
    Administrative Consultant

    Linda’s love for the travel industry started when she received a prestigious scholarship to study Travel & Tourism. During her tertiary studies she worked in the hospitality industry, where she dealt directly with clients and gained hands-on experience. This piqued her interest to branch into a different sector of travel: to help create dream holidays and unforgettable travel experiences. She joined Giltedge Travel as an administrative consultant and has since enjoyed learning from the experienced consultants within the DMC team. Linda is eager to learn and develop her skills within the MICE division, and to continue striving to create holidays that exceed clients’ expectations.

  • Farah Israel
    Administrative Consultant

    Farah’s travel career started when she joined Embassy Travel as a receptionist in 2013. After completing her Galileo course, she was promoted to the position of Junior Travel Consultant. She left Embassy and joined Giltedge to explore a different side of the travel industry, and has enjoyed every second so far.

    Farah’s many interests include discovering new places, running, and creating invitations and posters. Her favourite trip to date was an educational in Oudsthoorn where she explored the Cango Caves, visited the Cango Wildlife Ranch (where she saw a lion for the first time), and - the real highlight – visited Buffelsdrift Game lodge for their elephant experience which included an “elephant hug”! Her dream destination is Mauritius for a delayed honeymoon with her husband, and her travel bucket list includes a 5-star safari.

  • Sumaya Dalwai
    Administrative Consultant

    The travel bug bit early for Sumaya, which probably had a lot to do with her childhood growing up on the Cape’s West Coast. She completed her travel and tourism certificate and Galileo training in 2007, after which she had the amazing opportunity to spend a couple of months living and working on Kwantu Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.

    Life, love and kids took over, and kept her busy for a number of years. And while trying to find work in travel was a challenge, she’s delighted to back working in the industry she loves so much and that makes her happy to be South African. In Sumaya’s words: “Here’s to great travels!”

  • Leché Kapiera
    Administrative Consultant

    After leaving high school Leché took a gap year to find her feet and travel, but she always knew she wanted to be in the tourism industry. She completed her studies in Tourism at False Bay College, then started working at Jenman African Safaris as an intern for two months before they offered her a permanent position as a Scheduled Tour Coordinator. She left Jenman and joined Giltedge as an Administration Consultant to explore a different side of the travel industry.

    Leché loves the simple things that Africa has to offer, whether that be a sunset on Signal Hill or scenic drive along the coast. Road trips are her absolute favorite! She’s travelled many times down the Garden Route, stopping at places like Knysna and Grahamstown en-route to Durban. She’s a sucker for adventure, beautiful views and learning new things - whether about a destination or culture.

  • Verenique Van der Merwe
    Administrative Consultant

    Verenique has over eight years’ experience in the travel industry. She started off working for hotels in Cape Town as a senior travel desk consultant and operations assistant, including three years at the Vineyard Hotel. She then went on to work as a travel consultant at an online booking agency for three years, before making her way to Jenman African Safaris where she worked as a tour co-ordinator. Just over a year later she joined the Giltedge team, where she now works as an Administrative Consultant.

    Verenique’s interests include exploring new places, whether that be trying a new restaurant or activity. The furthest she’s travelled is Kwando Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, however, she’d love to experience Mauritius, Thailand and a little more of South Africa.

  • Lenecha Saaiman
    Administrative Consultant

    Lenecha comes from an adventurous and outgoing family, so she started travelling around South Africa at a young age. She’s been working in travel and tourism for two years now, and has really enjoyed it so far. She’s met fantastic people, seen a lot of places, and is very keen to develop her knowledge within the industry. Lenecha's favourite travel destination is the Garden Route.

  • Janine Marks
    Group Financial Executive

    Janine recently joined Giltedge as the Group Financial Executive, based at the Cape Town office.  Janine has trained as a CA, completing her articles at Mazars and later qualified with an MBA from UCT.  She started her career in manufacturing and SA sports retail, moving on to wholesale and import/export industries and finally finding her home in the travel industry.  Her training and varied experience has allowed her to specialise in operational integration, while providing a strong financial core.

    Janine considers herself fortunate to be part of this dynamic and entrepreneurial Group that are focussed on quality and committed to providing clients with unforgettable experiences.  She has been lucky to have travelled within South Africa and abroad and hopes to continue these travels and experiences with her family in the future.

  • Debbie Coutts
    Group Financial Accountant

    With 32 years’ work experience, including 19 within the Travel & Tourism sector, Debbie brings a wealth of knowledge to the company, as well as a great passion for travel. Born and bred in Zimbabwe she knows the country very well. Debbie has also visited the UK, explored Mauritius, Namibia, and parts of South Africa (particularly the Wine Regions) but still has a number of “must see” destinations on her bucket list.

  • Elaine Nicholls

    After travelling for seven years Elaine returned to South Africa as it is home-sweet-home and still the most beautiful place she has ever seen. She quickly found a job in the travel industry and has now been in our accounts department for three years. She loves working closely with the diverse and hardworking consultants that make up the Inbound team.
