Chobe

The Chobe region of Botswana is not only home to an abundance of game but is also comprised of four very distinctly different eco-systems, each with their own unique charm. Around the Chobe National Park visitors will find the largest population of elephants on the African continent while in the Serondela area they will step into lush plains and forests filled with rare and unusual birds. The Linyanti Swamps, with its papyrus-lined lagoons, are filled with elephants, buffalo and zebra and in the Savuti region visitors will be surrounded by the continent’s mighty predators, the famous lions of Savuti along with masses of wildebeest, impala and warthogs.
This region is one of the best game viewing regions of the world with a wide variety of luxury safari accommodation options. Most of these safari lodges are set on private concessions and game farms around the Chobe National Park and are close to the mighty Chobe River. A sunset cruise down the river is a favoured choice of visitors to this region.

Highlights during a trip to Chobe include:

  • Viewing the largest concentration of elephants in Africa
  • Passing by the famous elephant-eating lions of Savuti
  • Pitting angling skills against the wide variety of fish species, including Tiger fish
