Greater Kruger National Park
Located across the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo the Kruger National Park is South Africa’s largest reserve. Nearly 2 million hectares in size, this vast reserve offers pristine wilderness areas and is home to more mammal species than any other reserve in Africa. The reserve is home to the Big Five, the Little Five ((buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, ant lion and rhino beetle), 114 species of reptile and over 500 bird species.
The legendary Kruger National Park and the surrounding private game reserves combine to form the Greater Kruger Park. For the most part there are no fences restricting the movement of game between the park and the adjacent reserves.
Guests staying in these private reserves can choose between a range of luxurious and exclusive lodges offering bespoke accommodation and excellent food. In addition to private traversing rights on thousands of hectares of untouched wilderness, game drives are usually led by an extremely knowledgeable and passionate ranger, accompanied by a local Shangaan tracker and this makes for unforgettable safari experiences.
Highlights during any safari to the Greater Kruger Park include:
- Ask your ranger for a stargazing experience
- Enjoy a boma dinner under the African night sky
- Book for a hot air balloon safari for a different perspective
