Biyela Lodge

Mantis Biyela Lodge is set amid the rolling hills of Zululand in the game-rich Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. This historic region was once a royal hunting ground and was also the birthplace of Operation Rhino, established by the renowned conservationist Dr Ian Player nearly seven decades ago. Offering 12 one-bedroom suite accommodation catering for just 32 guests, the lodge is elevated above a valley on rocky cliffs looking onto an oxbow lagoon in the White uMfolozi River. All of the expansive villas offer either a plunge pool or day bed on the private balconies.

Guests enjoy the unrivalled experience of watching vultures launch to the skies and spotting African Wild Dog traversing the valley floor below from the comfort of their rooms. This is Big 5 country and game drives are exhilarating wildlife experiences generating stories to be shared around the campfire at night accompanied by the sound of African drums and song. Visitors here enjoy exceptional sightings of free-roaming animal species, including black and white rhino, cheetah, the Nile crocodile and spotted hyena. The lodge has exclusive traversing rights to the game reserve ensuring uninterrupted viewing on game drives and bush walks.
