Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve
Bushmans Kloof lies in the Cederberg Mountains, about a 3-hour drive from Cape Town. The setting is spectacular, tucked away amid wind-sculpted sandstone formations and within easy reach of around 130 San rock art sites – some dating back over 10,000 years! A member of Relais & Châteaux and one of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World, Bushmans Kloof offers a luxurious and relaxing stay in this extraordinary South African wilderness.
The lodge has 16 comfortable guest rooms and suites, as well as a fully-catered private villa called Koro Lodge (great for families!). The food too is a real highlight, with a strong focus on authentic Cape cuisine. Enjoy fine dining at The Homestead, high tea on the terrace at Makana and a traditional South African braai (barbecue) under the stars at Embers.
Bushmans Kloof is a lovely place to relax, and you could easily spend your stay in the beautiful grounds which have 4 swimming pools (one of them heated), an award-winning spa and magnificent mountain views. There is, however, plenty to do in the area. Go on a nature drive or guided walk to see the San rock art, hike to crystal rock pools and a waterfall, enjoy picnics out in the fynbos and sundowner drinks at the lake. Other activities include mountain biking, canoeing, archery and fly-fishing.
