Mara Plains Camp
The action-packed destination of Mara Plains Camp in the Olare Orok and Mara North conservancies in Kenya’s Maasai Mara region is home to the annual “great migration” of wildebeest. Set alongside the Ntiakatek River, this conservation-orientated camp tailors its activities and meal times to guest preferences.
The seven luxurious and en-suite canvas tents are set in the forest on elevated decks offering superb views of the plains and forest. Bathrooms include deep copper baths. For meals and some company head to the main lodge with its several lounge and dining areas, including a boma complete with campfire.
With more than 40 000 hectares to explore in relative exclusivity, the odds of spotting an abundance of big game are high. Expect the big cats, zebras, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippos and more on daily game drives and bush walks, as well as in close proximity to Mara Plains Camp. Absorb some local culture through a visit to a Maasai village or a local craft workshop.
