The bespoke Skybeds, deep within the extensive Khwai Private Reserve, is a unique destination in more ways than one. Its rooms are three-story platforms comprising a fully enclosed bathroom, with shower and flushing toilet, on the ground floor, a dressing area on the middle and a bedroom on the top. The double bed, dressed in a feather duvet and white linens, is open to the night stars with just a mosquito net between one and the wild. Meals are served around the campfire or on the dedicated dining platform. The platforms are set overlooking a waterhole that is popular with about 400 elephants, lion and leopard, and a host of other animals.
The game viewing experience starts right at camp but is extended through day and night game drives and walking safaris led by experienced and passionate guides. There is even a ground-level hide located en-route to the camp. The camp only sleeps six in three “rooms” and can be booked exclusively, making it perfect for small groups and families. Skybeds is a safe, unique and completely memorable safari experience. Children over the age of 12 years of age are welcome.
