De Hoop Nature Reserve
Just three hours’ drive out of Cape Town lies De Hoop Nature Reserve, a fantastic destination for hikers, cyclists, bird watchers and anybody who loves being out in nature. The reserve extends to the De Hoop Marine Protected Area, which provides an important sanctuary for marine life. And, every year from around June to November, southern right whales return to these waters to mate and calve.
De Hoop is known for its fynbos (unique Cape vegetation). What’s more, bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland and baboon are often spotted in this beautiful reserve.
