Arusha lies in the shadow of Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest peak. The town can be reached via two airports: Arusha Airport (domestic flights) and Kilimanjaro International Airport (an hour to an hour and a half’s drive away). This easy access makes Arusha the gateway to the Northern Safari Circuit, and a popular start or endpoint on a Tanzania safari.
Arusha lies at an altitude of around 1,500m, giving it a pleasant, temperate climate. Surrounding the town are rolling green farmland and coffee plantations, which is where you’ll find our favourite luxury lodges. Tucked away on lush coffee estates, these lodges are a fantastic place to relax and recharge after a long international flight or those early morning safari starts.
